“The charisma and passion for catechesis of San Cesar de Bus. Family instructions between memory and prospective current events” is the theme of the meeting promoted by the Catechesis Institute of the Salesian Pontifical University from 3pm to 6pm on 12 April in the Sala Vecchi of the University in Piazza dell’Ateneo Salesiano 1, in Rome.
After the short opening video – which tells the story of Saint Caesar and the Doctrinaries, the same one that can be seen in the permanent exhibition in the general house of Santa Maria Monticelli in Rome – and the greeting from Don Antonio Dellagiulia, dean of the Faculty of Education, space for the interventions of the speakers, moderated by Don Giuseppe Ruta, director of the Catechesis Institute.
At 3.15 pm the prof. Angelo Giuseppe Dibisceglia will speak on “Memory – the role of Saint Cesare de Bus in the history of modern catechesis”, followed by Professor Don Giuseppe Branciardi who will address “Current events – the intuitions of Saint Cesare de Bus: validity for today and seeds of the future”.
At the end of the debate, Father Sergio La Pegna, Superior General of the Doctrinaries, founded by Saint Caesar in 1592, will conclude the meeting.
The event at the Salesian University is at the center of the 76th General Chapter of the Congregation of Doctrinaries, which take place in Morlupo (Rome) until to 18 April and which will have as its theme “The Spirit will guide you and announce you (cf. Jn 16, 13-14). Consecrated Doctrinaries like Saint Caesar: for our significant presence in the Dioceses”. The Conference will offer the best interpretation to understand and grasp the catechetical insights of Saint Caesar, also valid for the challenges of today’s catechesis.
