The Ascension and Pentecost will be celebrated on May 17 and 24, 2026, for the community of Sant’Andrea Apostolo, the parish entrusted to the Doctrinaries in Rome.
On Sunday, May 17th, Filippo Nargi—a young man who attended the parish as a child and then as a young man, eventually becoming the leader of the Altar Servers Group—was ordained a priest in Naples on May 9th after many years of formation in the Congregation of the Vocationist Fathers. On Ascension Sunday, he celebrated his first Mass at Sant’Andrea Apostolo, with great joy and participation from the parish community.
On Sunday, May 24th, Pentecost, the large Filipino community celebrated 40 years of presence in the parish they frequent and where they celebrate Mass in Tagalog every Sunday.
The parish priest, Father Ottorino Vanzaghi, on behalf of the entire Community of Sant’Andrea Apostolo, thanked the Lord “for the long and fruitful journey of brotherhood and communion of the Filipino community in our neighborhood of Tomba di Nerone. We have had the opportunity to appreciate their availability, kindness, and collaboration in various areas of pastoral work: in Caritas, in the liturgy, in the singing and reading of the Word of God, in the catechesis in preparation for baptisms.”
“In the hope that the new generations will live and experience the neighborhood’s multiethnic and multicultural nature with ever greater cohesion,” Father Vanzaghi concluded, “we entrust the journey of the beloved Filipino community to the Lord’s blessing.”
