On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the five Brothers Firmin Niyonkuru, Edmond Nshimirimana, Hervé Arakaza, Dionise Niragira, and Cyprien Hatungimana professed their perpetual vows in the Congregation of the Fathers of Christian Doctrine. In the parish of St. Augustine in Bikinga, Archibishop Bonaventure Nahimana of Gitega presided over the Eucharistic celebration, in the presence of the Superior General of the Congregation, Father Sergio La Pegna, the delegate in Burundi, priests, Doctrinaries Brothers, and novices.
The Eucharistic assembly was filled with joy, with the newly professed and their parents. In his homily, the archbishop recalled that consecration to the Lord is a gift from God, a sacred commitment in which the consecrated person must detach himself from his own needs to dedicate himself entirely to the Lord and to others.
After the homily, the brothers pronounced their vows in the hands of the Superior General, and the Mass then continued.
At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, a moment of fraternal sharing was held at the “Padre Luciano Mascarin” community in Gitega.
The Superior General’s delegate welcomed the guests and gave the floor to the parents of the professed. Father Sergio La Pegna reminded them that we must be diligent in practicing Christian doctrine, following the example of our Founder, Saint Cesar de Bus, and love the Congregation.
